From Far Away Anime: October 4 Premiere, Crunchyroll Regions, Cast and Studio DEEN
From Far Away's October 4 Japanese premiere brings Kyoko Hikawa's fantasy manga to TV. Check Crunchyroll regions, midnight broadcast times, cast and themes.

From Far Away’s Japanese TV premiere is listed for October 4, 2026, at 24:00 JST on TOKYO MX: midnight at the end of October 4, or the start of October 5. Studio DEEN animates Kyoko Hikawa’s shojo fantasy manga under director Noriyuki Abe, with Tomoyo Kurosawa as Noriko and Kentaro Kumagai as Izark.
International distribution is confirmed separately: Crunchyroll’s Fall 2026 lineup includes the series for Europe and other listed regions. Japan’s television and streaming schedules should be read separately from that release.
What October 4 means on the Japanese schedule
The official broadcast page uses Japanese late-night notation. TOKYO MX’s Sunday 24:00 slot falls on the next calendar day; ABC TV’s Saturday 26:30 slot means 02:30 JST on Sunday.
| Japanese broadcaster | Listed start date and weekly slot | Calendar-day clarification |
|---|---|---|
| TOKYO MX | October 4; Sundays at 24:00 JST | Midnight at the start of Monday, October 5 |
| AT-X | October 7; Wednesdays at 23:30 JST | Wednesday, October 7 |
| ABC TV | October 10; Saturdays at 26:30 JST | Sunday, October 11, at 02:30 JST |
| WOWOW | October 13; Tuesdays at 24:00 JST | Midnight at the start of Wednesday, October 14 |
Japanese streaming begins from October 5 at 00:30 JST, with U-NEXT, Anime Hodai and Anime Times. The wider rollout starts from October 10 at 00:30 JST, including Prime Video Japan, ABEMA, Hulu Japan, Lemino, d Anime Store, FOD and DMM TV. TVer begins limited free streaming of the latest episode from that same October 10 window. Individual services roll out sequentially; these listings establish Japanese availability.
Where international viewers can watch
Crunchyroll lists a subtitle premiere on October 4 for North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS and the Indian Subcontinent.
The lineup still labels its exact subtitle airtime “Time TBA.” Use Crunchyroll’s release calendar and your local series listing for current availability and the time displayed in your region. The Japanese TOKYO MX slot is not a verified Crunchyroll release time.
Why the 35th anniversary matters
The official introduction dates Hikawa’s manga serialization in LaLa to 1991–2002, reports 4 million copies in circulation and identifies the anime as a project marking 35 years since the serialization began. That anniversary counts from the manga’s launch, rather than its ending or an earlier anime season.
Hikawa is credited with original work and script supervision on the official staff page. Those credits establish her involvement; they do not supply an episode count or confirm how much of the manga the broadcast will cover.
Studio DEEN, Noriyuki Abe and the announced cast
The official staff credits identify:
| Role | Credit |
|---|---|
| Original manga / script supervision | Kyoko Hikawa |
| Director | Noriyuki Abe |
| Series composition | Rika Takasugi |
| Character design | Eiji Abiko |
| Music | Takeshi Hama (Cosmic Wave) |
| Animation production | Studio DEEN |
The current Japanese cast includes eight announced characters. These short English character spellings follow Crunchyroll’s trailer announcement:
| Character | Voice actor |
|---|---|
| Noriko | Tomoyo Kurosawa |
| Izark | Kentaro Kumagai |
| Rachef | Yuichiro Umehara |
| Keimos | Eiji Takeuchi |
| Gaya | Kimiko Saito |
| Gorya | Tadashi Miyazawa |
| Agol | Taisuke Nakano |
| Geena | Miku Ito |
The story, themes and official main trailer
Noriko is transported from her everyday life into a dangerous fantasy world. Izark rescues her, but a prophecy connects her arrival to a destructive power hidden within him. Their journey begins with unfamiliar languages and customs as well as threats from the world around them. VIZ’s introduction sets up that central relationship without requiring later manga revelations.
The official music credits name 「逃光行」 by GNJB / 原因は自分にある。 as the opening and 「光の側で」 by 名無し之太郎 as the ending. Both artists confirm their theme-song assignments on their own websites; GNJB’s official English profile uses Genin wa Jibun ni Aru. The song titles are retained in their official Japanese spelling.
NBCUniversal Anime/Music’s main PV, published September 2, introduces the two leads, the fantasy setting and both theme songs:
The English manga and what remains unannounced
VIZ publishes the original manga in English as From Far Away, credited to Kyoko Hikawa. Hakusensha’s original Hana to Yume Comics edition comprises 14 volumes; its April 2026 announcement confirmed a Japanese digital reissue of that edition. The hero here is the publisher-supplied Japanese volume 1 cover, distinguished from the anime’s promotional visuals.
The official anime materials checked do not announce a total episode count, cour split or finale date. From Far Away is also absent from Crunchyroll’s current announced Fall 2026 English-dub list; an English-dub schedule has not been verified. The manga’s volume count and Hikawa’s supervision credit should not be converted into a promise that every volume will be adapted.
