Day Drinker Teaser Reveals Johnny Depp, Madelyn Cline and a Yacht Thriller
Lionsgate's full Day Drinker teaser is out. Watch the official footage and see what it establishes about Johnny Depp, Madelyn Cline, Penélope Cruz and the March 2027 release.

Lionsgate has released the full Day Drinker teaser, following the 19-second preview posted on September 23. The longer footage introduces Johnny Depp as Kelly and Madelyn Cline as Lorna, a bartender aboard a private yacht, with Penélope Cruz also appearing. Lionsgate has scheduled the film for March 26, 2027 in US theaters.

What the Teaser Shows
The full teaser replaces the earlier preview’s promise of footage with a clearer look at the yacht setting, the three leads and a violent criminal-thriller tone. Kelly describes himself as someone who has “made a living out of misbehavior.” The rapid montage includes weapons and blood, but it does not establish the order of events or the fate of any character. Tarot imagery in the marketing does not, by itself, confirm supernatural events.
Who Are Kelly and Lorna?
Lionsgate’s synopsis follows Lorna (Cline), a private-yacht bartender who meets Kelly (Depp), a mysterious guest on board. They become entangled with a criminal figure played by Cruz and discover an unexpected connection. The studio has not explained that connection or identified Cruz’s character as the sole villain. The teaser’s brief shots are not enough to assign motives or allegiances to the three leads.
Marc Webb directs from a screenplay by Zach Dean. The previously announced supporting cast includes Manu Ríos, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto and Anika Boyle. The existing first-look image of Depp remains an official Lionsgate portrait, separate from the new teaser footage.
Depp and Cruz Reunite
Day Drinker is Depp and Cruz’s fourth feature together, after Blow (2001), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) and Murder on the Orient Express (2017). Their prior collaborations do not clarify how Kelly and Cruz’s character relate to one another here; the official synopsis leaves that open.
When Does Day Drinker Release?
Lionsgate’s current US theatrical date is March 26, 2027. That is the cinema release, distinct from the September 24, 2026 teaser launch. The sources reviewed here do not announce a streaming date.
