Carrie (2026) on Prime Video: Cast, All Eight Episodes and What to Know
A spoiler-light guide to Mike Flanagan's Carrie series: its October 2026 release, eight episodes, cast, creators, trailer and connections to Stephen King's novel.

All eight episodes of Carrie arrived on Prime Video on October 7, 2026. Mike Flanagan’s adaptation stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White, Samantha Sloyan as her mother Margaret and Siena Agudong as Sue Snell. It is a complete first-season release, not a weekly rollout. The show is now streaming in more than 240 countries and territories, according to Amazon’s official guide, although subscription terms and languages vary by market.
That answers the practical question. The more interesting one is what an eight-episode Carrie can do that earlier films couldn’t. Flanagan retains the bullied teenager, her controlling home life and emerging telekinetic powers, but moves the social environment into an age when humiliation can follow someone through every screen at school.
What is the 2026 Carrie series about?
Carrie White has grown up sheltered by her mother. Following her father’s sudden death, she enters public high school and finds herself exposed to unfamiliar routines, classmates and a vicious bullying scandal. Her struggle to understand ordinary teenage life runs alongside the discovery that she can move objects without touching them.
The setup draws on Stephen King’s 1974 debut novel, whose essentials remain intact: a girl excluded by her peers, a repressive parent and extraordinary powers that make a dangerous situation even more volatile. The television version adds contemporary social media and gives the supporting characters more time to be people rather than simply pieces of a famous prom-night plot.

Who plays Carrie and her classmates?
The central cast is unusually important to this adaptation: eight episodes leave room to see how the group behaves before its worst decisions take effect.
| Character | Actor | Role in the story |
|---|---|---|
| Carrie White | Summer H. Howell | The sheltered student discovering telekinesis |
| Margaret White | Samantha Sloyan | Carrie’s controlling mother |
| Sue Snell | Siena Agudong | A student whose response to bullying becomes central to the story |
| Chris Hargensen | Alison Thornton | One of Carrie’s principal antagonists at school |
| Tommy Ross | Joel Oulette | Sue’s boyfriend, drawn into the events surrounding Carrie |
| Billy Nolan | Arthur Conti | Chris’s boyfriend |
| Emaline | Thalia Dudek | An important figure in Carrie’s life; more is revealed as the season progresses |
| Miss Desjardin | Amber Midthunder | A teacher navigating the school’s crisis |
| Principal Grayle | Matthew Lillard | The school’s principal |
| Tina | Josie Totah | Another student in the ensemble |

Who created Carrie, and who directed the episodes?
Flanagan wrote and executive-produced the series and directed episodes 1, 2, 7 and 8. Kate Siegel, Axelle Carolyn, Kyra Sedgwick and Hiromi Kamata directed episodes 3 through 6, respectively. Stephen King is also credited as an executive producer. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
Flanagan previously adapted King’s Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, but Carrie gives him a different format: enough space to explore the damage caused by ordinary cruelty before the supernatural elements escalate. Reuters’ October 6 interview connects his decision to revisit the story with modern teenage experiences, including cyberbullying and school safety fears.

How does this Carrie relate to the book and films?
King’s novel was released in 1974. Brian De Palma’s famous 1976 film stars Sissy Spacek. A 2002 television movie and a 2013 feature film revisited the premise, while The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999) is a sequel rather than another direct retelling. Flanagan’s eight-part 2026 version is the first full television series adaptation, not the first adaptation made for TV.
The new version keeps the central situation but reworks character histories, the social climate and parts of the ending. Because its final episode makes major changes, a fair comparison needs a spoiler warning. Start with our Carrie adaptations comparison if you want the franchise history, or the full ending explanation if you have finished the season.

Will there be a Carrie Season 2?
No Prime Video renewal was found in the official material checked on October 13, 2026. Flanagan has discussed a potential longer story, and Season 1 deliberately leaves questions open. Neither an interview about a hoped-for continuation nor a cliffhanger is a production order. There is no verified Season 2 release date to report.
If you’re deciding whether to start the show, the useful distinction is simple: the eight released episodes adapt the core Carrie story, but the adaptation also opens a wider supernatural possibility. The Carrie White powers guide goes into spoiler territory.
