What time does PSYREN release on Crunchyroll?

Crunchyroll lists October 5 at 7:30 a.m. PT for the first subtitled episode. Its territory announcement is worldwide, excluding Japan and China. Japan’s broadcast and domestic streaming listings are separate from that international simulcast.

The announced Crunchyroll time converts to 14:30 UTC on October 5. This is the same simulcast instant, not a separate release schedule in each time zone.

Japan broadcast vs. Japan streaming

TOKYO MX and BS11 begin the TV broadcast at 23:00 JST on Monday, October 5. Sun TV follows at 24:00, meaning midnight at the start of October 6; Mie TV begins October 7 at 24:20, meaning 00:20 on October 8.

Japanese streaming starts from 23:30 JST on October 5, with a service-specific start-time caveat. The official list includes ABEMA, Amazon Prime Video Japan, d Anime Store, DMM TV, FOD, Hulu Japan, Lemino and U-NEXT. ABEMA, TVer and NicoNico Live are also listed for free catch-up viewing.

That domestic list does not establish worldwide Amazon or Hulu rights. For international viewers, use Crunchyroll’s announced territory scope and the listing available in your region.

Opening and ending themes — and the main trailer

The opening song is “WARNING!!” by CLAN QUEEN, previewed in the September 11 main trailer. The ending song is “ICARUS” by Who-ya Extended, announced on September 28. The production committee has not said whether the ending sequence appears in the premiere episode.

The official September 11 subtitled main trailer below comes from It’s Anime powered by REMOW.

The anime is planned to adapt the manga through its ending

The production committee’s April 1 report from AnimeJapan explicitly says the adaptation will reach the original manga’s ending. That remains a production plan, not a confirmed episode total or a promise that the whole story fits into the first cour.

Toshiaki Iwashiro’s manga ended in 2010 and comprises 16 volumes. This is its first TV anime adaptation. The story follows Ageha Yoshina as a mysterious red telephone card connects his search for missing classmate Sakurako Amamiya to the dangerous Psyren world.

Staff and cast

The official English credits list Katsumi Ono as director, Shin Yoshida on series composition and Akira Okuma on character design, with animation production at Satelight. Music is by Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki and Shu Kanematsu.

The announced Japanese cast includes:

What Episode 1 is about

The official Episode 1 page calls it “Urban Legend” (都市伝説). Its synopsis introduces Ageha’s problem-solving work, the telephone card and Sakurako’s disappearance. Following the Psyren rumor leads him to answer a ringing phone and arrive in an unknown wasteland. This is the production’s preview synopsis, rather than a recap of an aired episode.

A real-world tie-in event

The telephone-themed promotion with NTT East is scheduled for October 11 at Shibuya Mark City. The official October 4 update says entry requires a numbered ticket, with ticket distribution beginning at 09:00 JST and no planned walk-in entry without one; check the event page before travelling.

What’s still unconfirmed?

The primary announcements checked for this update do not give an exact episode count or total cour count. Crunchyroll has announced an English dub, but its current seasonal lineup still lists the dub airtime as TBA; a launch date and English cast have not been confirmed in those announcements.

Crunchyroll’s schedule answers the subtitled premiere question. Japan has the separate domestic options listed above; those primary announcements do not identify a China streaming partner or a complete schedule for adapting the manga’s remaining story.
