Updated October 4: Disney’s Sunday estimates put Avengers: Endgame at $2.9255 billion worldwide, narrowly ahead of Avatar’s $2.9237 billion. Encore has restored its lead in worldwide theatrical gross, unadjusted for inflation. The latest weekend figures remain estimates, rather than final actuals. This article was first published before Encore began screening; the descriptions below reflect subsequently reported additions.

The official Marvel trailer may be unavailable in some territories because of regional playback restrictions; availability depends on the viewer’s country.

Spoiler-free answer: Encore keeps the core 2019 film but adds material around its ending and credits that brings Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner and the multiverse into the path of the next Avengers film. Marvel says the new footage sets up Doomsday. IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings also include an additional sneak peek; check your local listing for the presentation on offer. The U.S. release begins September 25, while some international markets started screenings earlier.

Spoiler warning: the new Endgame Encore scenes

Major spoilers for the added scenes follow. The descriptions below draw on The National’s firsthand theatrical review and Philstar’s release-day report. Marvel’s interview confirms the broader Doomsday connection, but does not spell out every scene.

Loki interrupts Steve and Peggy’s ending

The familiar final dance between Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter is interrupted by Loki arriving at their door. That changes the point at which Endgame leaves Steve: his decision to stay in the past is no longer simply the last image of his story. Loki’s purpose and the consequences of the visit remain open. The scene alone does not establish that Steve caused the multiversal crisis or that Loki intends to arrest him.

Doctor Doom approaches Bruce Banner

During the added credits material, Bruce Banner is in isolation and working on a way to control the Hulk when Doctor Doom appears. The encounter puts Banner in Doom’s orbit, but does not settle what Doom wants from him or what happens to Banner afterward. The scene should not be read as proof that Doom takes Hulk’s powers.

The TVA faces an incursion crisis

Another addition takes viewers to the Time Variance Authority as its personnel confront worlds at risk of collision. It gives the threat in Doomsday a clearer multiversal shape, without resolving which worlds survive or how every scene fits into the timeline. Our Marvel incursions explainer covers the concept without treating this short scene as a complete account of the film’s rules.

Doom forges his mask

The credits’ hammering motif is paired with Doctor Doom forging his mask, making a deliberate visual and sound parallel with Tony Stark’s legacy. Robert Downey Jr. plays both Tony and Victor von Doom, but a callback is not confirmation that Doom is Tony, a Tony variant or a resurrected Iron Man. Marvel’s Anthony Russo interview identifies the new character as Victor von Doom.

How does Encore connect to Doomsday?

The re-release now provides story setup, not only a trailer attached to an old film. It reopens Steve’s ending, brings Doom into contact with Banner and shows the TVA confronting a wider crisis. Marvel says the new scenes deepen the Avengers’ story and directly set up Doomsday. They leave the central questions—Loki’s plan, Banner’s fate, Doom’s full objective and the exact sequence of events—for the new film.

The extra IMAX and Infinity Vision sneak peek is a separate format-specific promise in Marvel’s announcement. Do not assume every screening includes identical presentation extras. If you are deciding whether to revisit the film, the added material provides early clues, but Marvel has not established that a ticket to Encore is essential to understand Doomsday. How much did Avengers: Endgame Encore make?

The re-release opened to an estimated $86 million worldwide, comprising $26 million domestic and $60 million international, in Disney’s September 27 announcement. That was its opening-weekend estimate, not the current cumulative total.

By October 4, Deadline reports an estimated $126 million for Encore’s run: $36.2 million domestic and $89.8 million international. Its second weekend contributed an estimated $18.8 million worldwide, split between $4.4 million domestic and $14.4 million international. These are re-release figures, separate from the original film’s earnings.

Endgame vs. Avatar: the current worldwide record

Disney’s October 4 statement gives the following comparison:

FilmWorldwide lifetime grossSource and data date
Avengers: EndgameEstimated $2.9255 billionDisney, October 4, 2026
Avatar$2.9237 billionDisney’s comparison, October 4, 2026

The comparison includes re-release earnings and puts Endgame about $1.8 million ahead, using Disney’s rounded figures. This is the worldwide theatrical-gross record in nominal dollars; it does not measure inflation-adjusted earnings, admissions or studio profit.

The running trackers now agree on the ranking. The Numbers lists Endgame at $2,925,499,985 worldwide. The Box Office Mojo lifetime chart, checked October 5, lists Endgame at $2,925,466,085, ahead of Avatar at $2,923,710,708. Mojo’s snapshot is dated October 4 at 17:11 PDT. These source-specific running totals differ slightly; neither the extra digits nor the agreement on the ranking makes the latest weekend estimates final actuals.

The worldwide milestone also does not make Endgame the domestic leader. Our Spider-Man: Brand New Day domestic-record coverage tracks that separate North American chart. Weekend estimates and running totals may be revised as reporting settles, but Disney’s latest announcement has Endgame back in front worldwide.
