Daemons of the Shadow Realm Season 2 Announced After the Finale — What's Confirmed
Right after its September 19 finale, Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Yomi no Tsugai) got a second season announcement and new teaser. Here's what's confirmed, and what's still unknown, including why this isn't the same as the first season's second cour.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm is getting a second season. The announcement landed almost immediately after the first season’s 24th and final episode aired in Japan on September 19, 2026, alongside a new teaser video and key visual.
What’s Actually Confirmed
Official Japanese reporting states plainly: “TVアニメ「黄泉のツガイ」第2期の制作が決定” — “Season 2 production for the TV anime Yomi no Tsugai has been decided.” That’s a genuinely new season announcement, made after the first season wrapped, not a continuation of the first season’s existing episode order.
This is a different thing from the first season’s second cour. Daemons of the Shadow Realm’s first season already aired across two consecutive cours — the first from April 4 to June 20, 2026, and the second from July 4 to September 19, 2026 — covering a combined 24 episodes as one continuous season. That second-cour split happened months ago and is now finished. The newly announced Season 2 is a separate, additional season beyond those 24 episodes, confirmed only now that the first season has concluded.
What the New Teaser Shows
The new teaser video features returning main characters Yuru, Asa, Sayo-sama and Gabu-chan, alongside new characters described as key to the story going forward. It also shows Goryo, identified as the leader of the Nishinomura faction pursuing Yuru and Asa. A “super teaser visual” was released alongside the footage.
At the time of writing, the specific teaser hasn’t been independently verified against a citable official upload with a confirmed video ID, so it isn’t embedded here — treat the character and footage details above as descriptive of what’s been reported, not as a substitute for watching the official material once it’s more widely available. As with any teaser, character appearances confirm their presence in upcoming material, not specific plot outcomes, alliances or fates.
What’s Still Not Announced
No premiere date or window has been set for Season 2. Official material hasn’t confirmed which cast and staff members are specifically returning — while the same production team (director Masahiro Ando, Studio Bones Film) is reasonably expected to continue given the project’s continuity, treat that as an assumption rather than a confirmed fact until officially stated for this new season specifically. Don’t assume the manga’s current pace or unresolved plotlines dictate a specific episode count or adaptation scope for Season 2 either.
Quick Context: What Is Daemons of the Shadow Realm?
Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Yomi no Tsugai / 黄泉のツガイ) is based on the manga by Hiromu Arakawa, creator of Fullmetal Alchemist, serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan since December 2021. The story follows twins Yuru and Asa, born in a remote Japanese mountain village and caught up in a supernatural conflict tied to their birthplace. The anime is produced by Studio Bones Film and directed by Masahiro Ando, and streams on Crunchyroll.
