October 5, 2026 update: The Batman: Part II has temporarily paused production while Matt Reeves focuses on a “family matter.” Deadline reports the Warner Bros. and DC Studios statement, which also backs the director.

What DC Studios says about the pause

DC Studios says Reeves has its full support and hopes to continue work soon. The announcement describes a temporary pause and does not announce his departure. It provides neither a restart date nor a duration for the stoppage. Variety carries the same statement.

Will The Batman Part II be delayed again?

The current theatrical date is February 18, 2028, announced when Reeves unveiled a camera test in July.

Deadline’s sources say it is too early to know whether the pause will affect that date. The studio’s latest statement does not announce another release delay.

Earlier Batmobile sightings are production background

Our original August report concerned images of the Batmobile during Glasgow location work. GamesRadar+ reported on August 18 that photos showed a transporter carrying a dented Batmobile alongside an undamaged car shell. STV News separately reported the vehicle’s arrival in Glasgow on August 17, ahead of local filming.

Those sightings describe an earlier stage of production. They do not establish what caused the damage or reveal a scene, antagonist or plot outcome. Before the October pause, filming had been under way in London, according to Deadline.

Who is confirmed in the cast?

Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman, with Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch have also joined the cast.

Variety’s cast announcement reported Reeves’ welcomes to the new actors. Their presence does not establish any of the sequel’s rumored villain roles.
