Dynamic Duo Cast Revealed as DC Film Moves to Fall 2028 Alongside Gremlins
Mason Thames and Logan Kim will play Dick Grayson and Jason Todd in Dynamic Duo, with Lee Pace and Steve Buscemi also cast. The DC film and next Gremlins movie have new 2028 dates.

Update, September 25: TheWrap has reported the principal voice cast for DC Studios’ Dynamic Duo: Mason Thames as Dick Grayson, Logan Kim as Jason Todd, Lee Pace as Red Hood One and Steve Buscemi as Red Hood Two. The casting adds to Warner Bros.’ fall 2028 schedule changes reported earlier this week. Dynamic Duo is now dated September 22, 2028, moved from June 30, 2028, according to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. The next Gremlins film has moved from November 19, 2027 to October 6, 2028; Warner Bros. also posted that new theatrical date itself.
| Film | Previous date | New theatrical date |
|---|---|---|
| Dynamic Duo | June 30, 2028 | September 22, 2028 |
| Untitled Gremlins sequel | November 19, 2027 | October 6, 2028 |
What is Dynamic Duo?
Dynamic Duo centers on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, two DC characters who have each been Robin in the comics. The theatrical feature comes from DC Studios, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Swaybox, with Arthur Mintz directing. James Gunn’s original announcement described its visual approach as a blend of animation, puppetry and CGI. The title graphic above is announcement art, not a frame from the finished film.
TheWrap describes Dick and Jason as childhood friends who grew up as orphans. In the film’s story, Dick becomes Bruce Wayne’s Robin, while Jason falls in with the Red Hood Gang. TheWrap also describes the production’s visual mix as computer animation, models and large-scale puppetry. These are story and production details for this film, not a declaration that it shares continuity with another DC screen project.
The move takes the film out of its late-June slot and into September. Warner Bros. has not issued a readily accessible standalone date announcement for Dynamic Duo, so the precise change here is attributed to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. The reported cast does not establish a Batman voice actor or the film’s place in the wider DC Universe.
What do we know about the Gremlins sequel?
Warner Bros.’ September 23 date post says October 6, 2028 — only in theaters. The new date is nearly eleven months after the previously scheduled November 19, 2027 opening.
Chris Columbus, who wrote the 1984 Gremlins, is set to direct and produce the new film. Steven Spielberg is an executive producer. Variety reports that the official title, plot details and cast have not been disclosed. The shorthand “Gremlins 3” appears in trade headlines, but the current schedule reporting calls the project an untitled Gremlins film; we are using that more precise description until Warner Bros. names it.
Why did the dates change?
There is no publicly established production problem behind either shift. Deadline describes the moves as unrelated to the pending Paramount–Warner Bros. transaction and reports a distribution view that September could suit Dynamic Duo. That is scheduling context from a trade report, not proof of an undisclosed production issue. Our transaction update covers the deal separately.
For now, the useful next milestones are a direct studio update on Dynamic Duo and an official title, cast or story announcement for the Gremlins sequel. The two dates above are theatrical plans as currently reported and can still change.
