CONTROL Resonant was released worldwide on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with GeForce NOW support. Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, is the playable lead. A new Remedy developer interview on PlayStation Blog explains how the team built its distorted Manhattan, traversal and boss encounters. This guide covers those confirmed design details without revealing late-game events.

Who Is Dylan Faden?

If you haven’t played the first Control, here’s what you need going in. Dylan is Jesse’s younger brother, taken as a child by the Federal Bureau of Control for his own paranatural abilities and held in the Bureau’s containment as Prime Candidate 6. During Control’s story, Dylan surrendered to a mind-altering force called the Hiss, telling Jesse he saw it as his liberator. Jesse eventually purged the Hiss from him, but the fight left him comatose — his condition uncertain, how much of him remained unclear.

CONTROL Resonant begins with Dylan awake and pulled into a new paranatural crisis. Jesse is missing at the start. Her fate and the story’s later events are outside this spoiler-conscious overview.

How Is CONTROL Resonant Different From Control?

The core premise moves the action from the shifting Oldest House to a paranaturally altered Manhattan. Remedy’s developers used “Strange York” as an internal design name for that version of the city. It is their description of the setting, not a separate in-game location. They describe The Central as a more recognizable urban area that helps ground the stranger spaces around it.

Remedy describes CONTROL Resonant as an action-adventure RPG — a genre label the original Control never used — and the combat identity built around Dylan is different from Jesse’s telekinetic, gun-and-powers kit. Dylan’s signature weapon is the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon that Remedy says can morph between forms like a two-handed hammer and dual-wielded blades. Official materials describe combat built around switching between the Aberrant’s forms, elemental abilities, and environmental interaction, with a progression system for shaping how Dylan’s paranatural abilities develop over the game. Remedy frames those abilities as tied to Dylan channeling “the raw experiences of his past” rather than functioning as a copy of Jesse’s powers from the first game.

In the September 29 interview, lead level designer Anne-Marie Grönroos, art director Elmeri Raitanen and lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov explain a design rule behind the city’s changing gravity: surfaces that appear walkable should remain usable even when the world turns around Dylan. The team also worked to make Dylan’s animation feel physically grounded despite his abilities. These are developer accounts of the design, not a review of how every encounter plays.

What Did Remedy Say About Bosses?

Mohov calls bosses “skill checks” built around the combat abilities players have learned. The developers describe medieval iconography and church architecture as visual references for some bosses. We are leaving individual boss identities, solutions and story outcomes out of this guide. On PS5, Remedy says adaptive triggers provide feedback for specific abilities, while the DualSense controller speaker carries radio calls.

Which Editions Are Available?

The game is available in Standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The current Steam listing lists a digital artbook, soundtrack, Untapped Artifact wallet item, starter resource bundle and AWE Mission outfit among the Digital Deluxe extras. Check the storefront for your platform and region for current pricing and contents. The pre-order offer and PS5 early-access window belonged to the launch period and are no longer current purchase benefits.

Where to Play It

CONTROL Resonant is out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), with GeForce NOW streaming support. Remedy still lists a Mac version via Steam and the App Store for later in 2026; it has not announced an exact Mac date.

What This Guide Does Not Spoil

The game is available, but this page does not disclose Jesse’s fate, boss identities, mission solutions or the ending. The official trailer embedded above and Remedy’s developer comments establish the premise and design approach; they are not a substitute for a played review.
