The Man with the Bag Teaser: Schwarzenegger Is Santa in Prime Video's Holiday Heist

Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Santa Claus, and Alan Ritchson plays a thief on his Naughty List, in The Man with the Bag. Prime Video’s first official teaser introduces the recovery team ahead of a global December 2, 2026 streaming premiere.

Why Santa Needs a Thief

Amazon’s synopsis gives the partnership a specific cause: a rogue elf with a grudge, played by Awkwafina, steals Santa’s red bag. Santa turns to Ritchson’s character because recovering it requires a heist. The thief assembles criminal misfits, with elves and reindeer involved in the operation.

The reversal is the central comedy setup. Santa recruits someone whose behavior put him on the Naughty List, and skills associated with stealing become useful for saving Christmas. That explains the pairing without inventing a backstory for the thief or assuming how the recovery succeeds.

The written synopsis supplies the rogue elf’s role and the crew’s purpose. The video is labeled an official teaser; it is not a complete account of the heist or an announcement of every character’s part in it.

Schwarzenegger’s Christmas Return and the Ensemble

Amazon positions the film as Schwarzenegger’s return to Christmas comedy thirty years after Jingle All the Way. Here the announced role is Santa himself, with Ritchson as his criminal collaborator. The connection is a career reference, rather than an announced sequel to the earlier film.

Alongside the three leads, Amazon lists Berkeley James, Michael Cyril Creighton, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Jane Krakowski and Ken Jeong. It does not identify those six characters, so the cast list cannot establish who belongs to the elf side or the heist crew.

Adam Shankman directs from a screenplay by Allan Rice. Ritchson also leads Prime Video’s Reacher; our Season 6 renewal guide covers that separate production.

December 2 Is a Streaming Date

The confirmed worldwide date is December 2 on Prime Video. Amazon does not give a regional release hour or theatrical rollout. Viewers planning around a local midnight should wait for service-specific timing rather than treating the date as a universal clock time.
